Best southern U.S. cities to live/work/raise a family

Tired of the cost of the living in the northeast in the U.S. Looking to move south for a cheaper cost of living.

What coastal cities do any of you live (or have lived) that you have first-hand recommendations? Thanks.

I have traveled all over the US on business over the past 13 years.   I personally love Oregon.  It's West though.
