neither are man physic competitors. Discussion turned that way.
In regards to Trish... ;)

I believe that MF competitors also train for the attention from women. They understand damn well that most women prefer their look over a normal, chubby or BB guy. Many Getbiggers express this mindset, like DJ181, Che, etc..

agree in regards to attention from women to some degree. On the other hand attention from schmoes and G4P seems to be priority for IFBB Pros in order to pay huge bills for 'vitamins'.
In my book they are amongst the most delusional and fucked up people living on this planet.

It's very sad how they fund their expensive lifestyle. They're as low as female golddiggers :-\
It would be great if esp quality GH would become more affordable..

i love the hilarious irony in people calling mens physique gay.

"that's so gay, he should go back to wearing a thong and participating in an activity where most of them supplement their income with softcore gay porn!"

Whoosh!

Since I was a kid, I wanted to be big, massive really. It was a pipe dream. I was not willing to fill my body with steroids on a permanent basis. When I was on them, I got bigger. When I was off them, I got smaller. It has taken me most of my adult life to finally reach the conclusion that I am who I am (said in Popeye fashion). Genetics win out in the long run.

Fortunately, I never got serious enough to end up dead as a result of a heart attack from being grossly huge or on dialysis because of destroying my kidneys. I think being a husband and a father took precedence over my vain bodybuilding ambitions. I am lucky. I am pretty healthy and fit. Chances are that is all I am ever going to be. I hung up my thong a long time ago. Not that I really ever had the chance to wear one.  ;D

No person in their right mind would want to look like a pro bber knowing what it requires to get there. Even if you had the funds and didn't have to resort to drug dealing or gay for pay, you're still risking your health for very little in return. I don't understand the logic how pro bbing is somehow more respectable male physique. Even if these guys were training for pussy is that not "manly" enough ? lol

...it's more manly to train for yourself grrrrrr to get as huge as possible at all costs. Even if it means the homos will be jerking off at competitions to you and yes that's happened. Subconsciously maybe they wanna resort to the g4p, crave homo attention, and are really just closet fags deep down. Bay used to talk about this lol

So these male physique guys are judged on their whole appearance...big deal. Ugly people should not be rewarded.

Bbers for the most part (not all of them but I would say a lot) before they were huge most were very insecure people. A lot got  in to it to compensate for their lack of confidence whether it was to impress girls or in some cases men. A lot probably were the "unpopular" people in HS or guys that were shy that got picked on from a daily basis. From the skinny guys that wanted huge muscles to feel big and powerful to the ones who couldn't play a "real" sport most stories u hear are all the same. Dwells from "insecurities" just take a look around and they all have the same traits before they started out

A good example would be Nasser even after retirement he won't even slim down and had to be massive and take boatloads of drugs just so he can say he weighs 300 with abs  :-\

Or kris dim almost dies but comes back and decides to compete while injecting a whole pharmacy into his body finally now paralyzed and paying the price too late

Or the countless stories of guys going on dialysis only to get a new kidney and back to shooting more drugs...

and if you were around to remember the milos/chad wars you saw an unbelievable look into just how horrific the drug use and disregard for well-being is at the top level. it's not just amazing that these guys live to 40, it's amazing they aren't dropping dead on the fucking stage.

bodybuilding started as an offshoot of olympic weightlifting and strongman exhibitions. the whole idea was that the muscled body was supposed to represent a STRONG body. the reason muscles are appealing AT ALL is that they give the visual impression that the person with all the muscles is strong. eugen sandow was a circus strongman, his flexing exhibitions (flexibitions?) were a part of a strength display. there's a reason guys like arnold and franco came from lifting backgrounds.

everyone says "who cares what they lift?" but why are muscles impressive if they can't do anything? that attitude is why bodybuilders are bloated drug sacks with SEO and PMMA all over the place, because if it doesn't matter how much it can lift, why does it matter whether or not it's even muscle? it's a body that gives the illusion of strength and power but has none. mr motherfucking olympia is in the gym squatting weights that natural gym-rats can handle. bevo nailed it here that it's all insecurity, guys putting all this effort into LOOKING powerful instead of BEING powerful.

good on capriese for getting out of it.

I think you overstate a bit here, although you do allow for some variances. While some folks who are interested in bodybuilding might have some insecurities, they aren't all total losers like you describe. Some guys just want to be more muscular or bigger.

I was once a skinny teenager. I was actually quite popular. I excelled in the sports which interested me, like swimming and track. My grades were excellent, when I bothered to study and okay otherwise. I had no problem getting girlfriends. I wasn't bad looking. But I was really skinny. The one thing I wanted which I didn't have was muscles. I might have been insecure with respect to this, but nothing else.

Young boys for generations have admired and wanted to emulate superheroes. Superheroes had muscles and could do amazing things. I also think it is pretty common to want what you don't have. Fat people want to be lean, weak folks strong, skinny people bigger and/or more muscular. Don't make more of this than it is.

you're not a professional bodybuilder injecting yourself twice a day with 15,000mg of hormones, though. we're not talking about gym-goers who are trying to improve themselves, we're talking about "bodybuilders".

besides, i've long said that anyone who's trying to actually get stronger and not just bigger is likely inherently less insecure than someone who's aiming for the reverse. if your sole reason to go in the gym is to make an image that will impress others, there's likely a hefty amount of insecurity going on there.
