Besides the 4 "kings" putting Floyd down-( Hearns, Hagler, Duran and Leonard), Benitez if he showed up in shape was too slick for Floyd too

The Sugar Ray - Hagler fight is still very controversial- I watched the fight and still think Hagler got screwed. Hagler was an animal in his prime, Ray Leonard was great , but no Marvin Hagler.
Floyd in the late 70's and through mid 80's has possible 5 losses.

People can speculate all day who was the greatest ..... compare styles.... make predictions based on this and that but it all comes down to the human element -that can't be "predicted" with a lot of accuracy in my opinion. Ali on paper against Liston or Foreman was a disaster... look what happened, Marciano ran the table against older competition granted but if he never would have fought Louis or Walcott or Moore or Charles somebody SOMEWHERE would have said Marciano was too small, too easy to hit, cut too much.... yet he did win.

Just saying it's very difficult to make predictions when dealing with people, who knows maybe Floyd runs the table in the 80's because the other mentioned fighters bring out the "hidden" monster in him that has not HAD to come out yet

HAVEN'T had time to read all this but here's the LAS VEGAS moneyline as of late last week,

You would have to place a $270 bet on MAYWEATHER to win $100. (Walk away with $370 if he wins.)

OR  bet $100 on CANELO to win $230.  (Walk away with $330 if he wins.)

ANY ADVICE??

he wouldn't fight paul williams (on record saying he's too big) because of the height issue, so what makes you think in any era he'd touch a 6'1" power-punching hearns at 147.

I agree with you, I think The cobra massacres Floyd. Just can't rule out the "human thing'' though. I think Tommy was too tough, jab too good, right hand plain deadly, too lanky and slick for Floyd. I think Tommy catches Floyd inside 10 rounds... but you never know !

and ray leonard laughed duran out of the ring because he couldn't hit him.  depending the day of the week, fmw would frustrate him with his defense.  fmw blows but he's no tomato can.  hagler at 147 (they'd never meet above that weight, so he'd get hagler early in his career.  young fmw better than young hagler. hagler was a late bloomer.) doesn't have power, is an accumulative puncher.  fmw has shown he can deal with slow sluggers.

one punch power and speed are fmw's enemies.  leonard and hearns have those areas covered, not duran and a young hagler at 147.

I don't know man, Floyd has never lost and doesn't seem to have many enemies. He is just to good defensively.

He lost to JL Castillo.

no he didnt
he clearly beat him both fights
the first fight was closer but you go back and watch it, JLC landed virtually nothing on FMW

IF Canelo makes it close, he will walk away with a butthurt decision win.

Floyd will start to slip when his reflexes and speed slow a notch

he's been boxing since he was 6 years old, sparring with bigger and stronger opponents all his life

his defensive skills are so good, its almost 2nd nature to him, the shoulder roll, the slide, the duck and move head movement

The long layoffs helped Mayweather. He's never been an active fighter, surprised he's fighting twice this year. If he had to fight like the fighters back in the day, 4-5 times a year, he'd lose by now. He doesn't have many fights either, that's why he's undefeated...he trains hard and comes focus when he wants to fight.

Plus he lives a clean lifestyle, no drugs and alcohol.

good points

the guy who gave FMW the most trouble was Judah because of judahs handspeed

Canelo does not have super fast hands like judah

He clearly didn't do anything but lose.  I was there and all 13,000 fans booed the decision.

Hearns was all wrong for Floyd at 147, wins a UD easy. Could knock Floyd out in 6-8.

Hearns destroys Floyd.  Leonard was able to Back Hearns up and get into his ass, because Ray Leonard had that dog in him.  He wasn't just a pretty boy, he was a bad ass.  Find me another fighter who comes out of a five year retirement and fights Marvin Hagler.  I'm pretty sure I scored it for Hagler, but the point is that Ray fought him and fought him well enough to get a decision.  Floyd would end up running away from Hearns losing a lopsided decision or get KTFO.

Roberto Duran also would have gotten into Floyd's ass at any weight.  JL Castillo conservatively won 10 of 24 rounds against Floyd and at best, he was a poor mans Duran.  Duran would have gotten to Floyd and worked him over.

Floyd is great though.  No shame in losing to Hearns and Duran.  I've got this feeling that Floyd is going to be sharper than he's been in nearly 10 years.  He's coming off a fight just 4 months ago.  Don't be surprised if he stops Canelo.

I am worried about FMJ getting old though. I hope he beats Canelo. I hope he retires before he loses to father time.

FMW will school Canelo

canelo looked limited against Trout

he hasnt fought anyone near FMW's skill level, foot work, handspeed, punching accuracy

FMW will know when he speed and reflexes start to slip and he'll know when to retire- he's arrogant but he's smart

it wasn't necessarily the size with sergio martinez since he is only 5'9 and was willing to dehydrate to 150 but fmw's camp came up with "he's too big" also, was his speed and the power at the end of his punches at his apex that fnw had no interest in.  i'm betting canelo re-hydrate to the size of sergio martinez but is a snail when you compare hand speed and foot work.

judah's head case issues got him after the 4th round.  obviously that ring brawl was the culprit.

nothing against fmw.  dude left top rank, figured out how to promote himself as the villian of boxing, and now it nets him 20-30M  per fight on his mexican tour.  smart boxer in a land of morons who make promoters rich like manny.

and yes, he lives a clean life, has always vs his assclown protegee broner who doesn't get it's more to fmw than the fake flash he is selling.
