Mom Accused of Running $3 Million Pot Scheme
In July 2013, mother-of-three Andrea Sanderlin was arrested and charged with running a pot-growing operation that may have banked her up to $3 million. Although she was keeping mum about how she managed to live her “upscale lifestyle” of mansions and Mercedes SUVs in New York, law enforcement officials were convinced something was amiss and brought her in. "She hasn't worked, but she's living in Scarsdale (N.Y.) and driving a Mercedes. I can't add that up," Judge Steven M. Gold said, according to USA Today. Four friends helped her make bail, and she went home to her children while awaiting trial.

eh, they thought something was 'amiss' and just brought her in? you can't just arrest people like that in the real world.. this isn't CSI Miami.

and what qualifies as a 'mansion'? a 500k home? 1 million ?... mortgage on a million $ home is less than $3k/month, and you can get GL450's for $25k.. she could have the million dollar come & 2 benz SUV's for well under $4k/month.

The house alone would cost more than that with a mortgage payment, taxes, maintenance, etc..

I've never leased a car but I suspect Benz SUV's + house would greatly exceed 4k

just do the math on the mortgage as a starting point:

well, I was off by about $500... 800k mortgage over 30 years at 4.5% for a jumbo loan would put it at 4100/month... the benz suv's if she bought them used can be had for a lil over 200/mon each.... for figure 4500. not exactly "drug kingpin" status the cops make it seem to be.

my point was what did the cops consider 'out of the ordinary'... I mean a soccer-mom who didn't work? big deal... how does that stand out? it's not like she was driving Ferrari's and racing speedboats.

The cops didn't arrest her or even start looking because she lived in an expensive home and drove a Mercedes

A $2.3 million home in Scarsdale SD is not that big of a deal but the property taxes are at least $35K a year (if not more), so that's another $3K u have to add to your monthly nut. U can get a house in Scarsdale PO (but not SD) where the taxes will be somewhat less but Westchester County (where Scarsdale is located) has the highest property taxes in the US so there's nowhere to really hide.

Probably all leases and 3 million dollars as an estimate of the total worth, not liquid assets. She'd have to have a warehouse full of dope to nab that kind of money and she'd sooner get ripped by a violent gang than crop it all out with no problems.

The way they calculate these things is ridiculous. Its hard to believe they can get away with such over exaggerations. The plants aren't worth shit until they are chopped, dried and in bags.

They don't account any kind of bulk pricing when calculating "street pricing".

Like if a gram sells for $20 and you have an ounce, that's worth $9000 in the eyes of the law
