I've seen him a couple times at Gold Venice about 12 years ago.  Everyone was in awe grouped around watching him lift.

kovacs was a very strong man.

before he became known he was at a bbing/ powerlifting show. when the show was over right before they announced the winner of the bench press contest he came out of the audience wearing i believe flannel, jeans and workboots, got on stage, got under the bench and proceeded to rep out with what the winners max was. he then simply left the auditorium.

by far the widest human I have seen in my life. his shoulders must have been at least a meter accross.

I talked to a promoter who personally saw this he said it was 425 or so (i think) if I remember.
