I guess I was born with an ingrained desire to seek perfection however as I approach my late twenties I've come to a realization that it's a complete waste of my time. Let's be clear this isn't a self esteem thing, nor is it about seeking happiness, it's about trying to understand a thought process that most getbiggers must thrive with. If we're all just a collection of flaws and seeking happiness is just pleasure seeking, whatta ya do.
Everyone has flaws, but that does not mean we are all "just a collection of flaws." And if you mean by "pleasure", sensual pleasure (as I think you do), then, No, happiness is not just pleasure seeking. People can be happy because they achieved a goal, or helped someone else in some way. And you can't raise the objection that that's just pleasure seeking based on the fact that doing those things gave them pleasure.
Because if altruism is just pleasure seeking, than I would think that no one would object to pleasure seeking as a motivation.
You are taking yourself too seriously. Emotional turmoil is hard to cope with, but you will see clearly in due time. Most likely, anyway.
