I wrote today an article and I decided to translate it in english as well and post it here for my fellow getbiggers.
Books, television and video games
I was shuffling the other day through various TV stations, when I stumbled upon a scene in a kindergarden. A psychologist was interviewing a little boy who appeared to be tired all the time. The little boy told him that he has trouble falling asleep. Upon further inquiry, it was apparent that he spends every day from 15:30 up until 21:00 playing video games. Further more, when he tries o fall asleep, his mind is so agitated that even with his eyes closed he keeps seeing images from the games he played. The man offered him a deal: to swap his video games for books. The little boy refused categorically.
When we read a book, the information is sent through the sense organs, respectively our eyes, to the appropriate brain centers for decoding. Our pineal gland uses our imagination to enact the story in our minds thus enabling us to identify with the information presented. This is how we know.
In case of television or computers, they act as an artificial imagination and present us the respective images while the subconscious identifies with the meaning behind them. This is how the human mind can be imprinted. The more you repeat the process, the better it cements in as new mind-patterns.
Through development of technology, we witness a resurrection of what can be termed as artificial intelligence. This is technology that acts as the human mind. During the course of several generations, our minds, our imagination, become less and less used while slowly being replaced with technology. We literally live our lives through our computers and smart-phones.
The TV set, is a little oblong box in the corner of our room that constantly tells us what's real and what's not. The video-games, train countless generations .. for what though?
We are generations that make the transition from what was to what is meant to be. Our children, and our children's children, will never ask these questions because by that time it'll be "normal" to live in a virtual world as a productive member of the society.
The symbolic marriage between man and machine, a human body with an artificial intelligence, begets future generations of cyborgs. But who has time for this stuff when we have to keep up with the latest trends and find out what's new with Kim and Kanye?"
