Rand Paul urges conservatives to fight with him for liberty

Sen. Rand Paul urged the thousands that turned out for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to imagine electing a “friend of liberty” to the White House who will defend the Constitution and push back against a federal government that is trampling over their individual rights.

Mr. Paul, a likely 2016 presidential contender, suggested that he might fit the bill, and said it will take a “national revival of liberty” to restore the constitutional rights that have have been under assault by the Obama administration.

“You may think I am talking about electing a Republican. I am not,” Mr. Paul said. “I am talking about electing lovers of liberty. It isn’t good enough to pick the lesser of two evils. We must elect men and women of principle, and conviction and action that will lead us back to greatness.”

The remarks sparked a round of applause from libertarian-leaning crowd, which is champing at the bit for Mr. Paul to followed in the footsteps of his father, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, by running for the White House.

“There is a great battle going on,” Mr. Paul told the crowd. “It is for the heart and soul of America. The Fourth Amendment is equally important as the Second Amendment and conservatives cannot forget this.”

He's leading the poll on drudgereport for whatever that's worth.

I won't be surprised though or disappointed when these ass hole Republicans surprise us all by nominating Huckabee or some token woman/black man.

Rubio.... WTF is he thinking here... let's go start 25 wars because it's the right thing to do?  Just spend us into bankruptcy.  Unreal.   And yeah, once the republican base learns Rand SUPPORTS AMNESTY, I bet a lot of the base backs off of him fast.

Ted Cruz can win in 2016, but he's gotta start lifting, up his protein, get a tan, fix up that hair, and add cardio.   He's soft.  Sorry, but appearances matter.  We haven't had a bald president in a verrrrry long time.  Nor will we have a fat one.  Nor one that looks like a goober from a 1950s cigarette commercial.  This is what Cruz looks like happy and healthy.  Toss in 12 or 16 straight months of campaigning for 12 hours a day - just to get the nomination... and then the summer/fall of another 16 hours a day of campaigning in the General election... dude's gonna be a mess.  Gotta get in shape now.

Sorry, but people will elect a tan and fit Rick perry - who can't dictate his own policy positions "oops!" - before they will elect a very smart and prepared Cruz that just looks creepy.  Sucks, but it's reality.

I predict Perry is our next president.  he's the perfect combo of everything for the GOP in 2016.
