Tofu will never tase like meat, poultry or fish because it lacks an umami taste. Also the texture is nowhere near the fibrous tissue of meat.

I made fried tofu with braised mushrooms last night. Make char siu sauce (that delicious shit they put on BBQ pork), dredged the tofu with corn starch to give it a nice crust, sauteed the mushrooms and sauced that bitch up after pulling the water out of the mushrooms and let them soak up all the sauce. Tasted awesome.
