According to a former coworker who hailed from New Zealand, skin cancer is a huge problem in New Zealand and Australia because the ozone layer is practically non-existent. She said many people see dermatologists on a regular basis to be checked for skin cancer. I doubt six minutes in a tanning bed twice a week is all that dangerous. I never burn.

I just stay out of it in summer here and started tanning last week as it's autumn. I will bake until the end of sept. Then from oct until April it's too hot and bad for the skin. I no longer do Sunbeds as I don't trust them.
