I use to be incredibly curious about Savate when I was a kid. So little was known about it and of course there was no internet to learn about it. I read what little I could get my hands on but in the end I took up Judo.

Ha, those were usually put out by a guy named Bruce Tegner, he had whole series of them for different arts. Surprisingly, some were very decent for the time -

.

On the Fight Quest thing, this is my favorite episode -

Sandow. Uk has some of his old courses/ books. Interesting reading.

Didn't Tenger do a comparison of various martial arts and good old street fighting methods?  I could be mistaken.
I seem to remember someone (old timer) saying a person who knows how to street fight always has the advantage.

I remember the old days.. here in sweden lots of turks who migrated  were of wrestling backgrounds and often fought iranian, balkan, polak people who were kickboxers, karate champs, etc.. and 9/10 got beat by wrestlers..
You can go very far by boxing and wrestling alone.. ask Dan Henderson, Johnny Hendricks, Cain Velasquez..

Ah, French fighting. Brave face, initial resistance, followed by general surrender.

How about some Russian Sambo (Vodka) to go with some French Savate (red wine)?

Looks just like a flurry of blows but when brocken down it is a very effective way to fight in say a crowded bar. the traditionel System lacks ground fighting but now there is more modern styles around which intergrate ground  fighting such as from, leung Ting (Wing Tzun).. a very well known guy from him is Emin boztepe. Teaches also in LA..

The goat Fedor was a Russian sambo champ seems to be the best for self defense and real competition.
