to an unthreaded peice of galvanized. same goes for the plumbing shop i specifically told them that i was trying to connect pex to an unthreaded galvanzied

they told me to use that shitty dresser coupling wich did not fucking work, it was leaking real bad on the pex side. same with getbiggers they all thought i could use that dresser coupling fucking dumb fucks probably never even been up under a house

its fine though more manual labor for me, and more teaching getbiggers how to be a professional plumbers and manual labors no wonder you guys all look old as fuck probably do all of your physical labor jobs half assed  >:(

In order to correctly put them together you must first check the od or outside diameter of the pipe then check and see if the repair coupling will cover that range.  Also if you did not use the metal insert on the pex piping it will not work for long and usually pushes it back out with the pressure of the water.  Show some pics of the two ends you are trying to place together it may be easier just to put a blue smith-Blair dresser on it.  If you still insist on the spliced you need to get brass not galvanized.  HTH messenger me for more info

i used the metal washer and the rubber gasket that were in the dresser aswell as a nipple that goes into the pex, there wasnt any insert that i saw

Yes it's got to be the od of the pex nipple, how long is the pex brass nipple? I'd just get a Smith-Blair dresser from a plumbing supply house and once you get it on and it doesn't leak get a can of undercoating and spray the bolts of the dresser ans it will last longer than you and I ever will.

With the type of connector on that pex pipe the concerts are not necessary , I didn't know this til I seen the picture , what does the nipple on the pex pipe that goes into the coupling look like?

All these plumbing things are taken for granted until you have to do them yourself - it's its own little world.

Why did you keep the old gal?  Why not just join new pipe to old with a new coupling instead of this daisy chain of fittings?

Anyway, surely two pieces of metal won't seat tight enough to be waterproof without some goop or something.  There's no way.  Also, you'll get corrosion issues with brass to non-brass.
