I agree with ESF you can't look thirsty.  When I was 17-18 and started filing out a bit   I figured that any girl who flirted with me in the gym wanted to fuck my brains out in the parking lot. Common rookie mistake.  Now days I'll just keep it friendly and maybe ask her what her name is and keep it short. Always making sure I'm the one to leave the conversation. If I see her again THEN I will ask her out. You don't wanna wait three times though, your gonna look like a pussy.

Success with  lots of women from gyms but that came with some embarrassing moments too.  worst one that comes to mind...
I saw  this fine ass white girl a few years older than me and I think I was high at the time, had a bit of a brain fog... Couldn't think of anything to say so I said
"hey it's katie right?r "  ( no idea why the fuck  I chose katie but (she was supposed to say no to this ask I proceeded to tell her she  looked like this chick katie I knew and start a conversation)

her- "yeah?"  

totally froze me. My buddy who worked at the front desk confirmed for me that the chick's name really was katie lol.
