I really didn't understand all the hate toward Crossfit until I watched some sort of 'Crossfit Championship' on tv last week. Holy shitballz!!! I only watched a ladies squat clean competition, but that was enough. I had to turn the channel after that. You had the best in the Crossfit world competing here, so it wasn't your average Crossfit gym rat. One lady was a 2 time world champ returning after a year off due to a back injury, so it was def the creme de la creme of this field. A group of about 8-10 lined up to do the event in progression of (i think) 5 lbs starting at 170lbs up to i think 190lbs . Only 2 made it through cleanly, the rest was a parade of fail.
I was watching the event by myself, and still found it really awkward. Most of the competitors couldn't get past 2 clean lifts. The whole scene was warpt. It was like they had no idea of how much they could move; just arbitrarily picked these weights. It was fail after fail. Knees were buckling in left, right and center. The ladies were caving under the weight and looked really out of place. If they had any technique down pat, it was the bail out. Mind you, the ladies look great physique-wise, and I'm sure they put their heart and soul into the event. I blame it on the coaches that set them up for failure by not being honest with their ability, or setting the expectations too high. The entire event I had a chance to see looked very amateurish. Too bad. I felt for the ladies.
