You may well be correct.
I would be interested in seeing what their Training Routines Look Like.

Perhaps The UK & USA team could do with copying these Routines.
As Both Nations are Not at the Top of This Sport.

3x per week one session dedicated to strength - squats, deadlifts, presses. One training session, AM only.

2-3 times per week two training sessions with snatch in the morning, clean&jerk in the evening. Very few accessory movement, mostly snatch or clean and jerk specific.

Rep ranges and programming differs depending on athlete's individual response. Mostly huge volume in 90-95% range.

That's the Russian system. There's no magic to it. You have to take into consideration that Russian athletes dedicate 100% to lifting. They get paid $8000-$12000 per month. They have amazing strength training facilities with best coaches and equipment in the world. They live there for free, eat as much as they want for free (and it's highest quality food), inject as much as they want.

I'm talking about this training facility. Sauna and massage every day, virtually unlimited money for drugs. They live better conditions to grow than any bodybuilder and they have no official internal drug tests. The only limiting factor is the fact that they have to be clean during major events, that's it.

Klokov is a son of a russian multi-millionare and weightlifting champion. His father decided that he would become weightlifter instead of lawyer when he was still a small kid. He hired best coach in the country to train him from a stratch. To this day Klokov is first and the only kid this guy has ever trained. Klokov's father even built weightlifting facility near Moscow so that Klokov could come home after training.

Your average Joe doesn't stande a chance against them, you need to have crazy genetics to be able to keep up with Russians. Ilya is an exception, so was Kolecki, Dolega and others.

These weighs are damn amazing but looking at the women makes an absolute mockery of Olympic drug testing.

All the good lifters who haven't won anything yet don't get paid shit. Few hundred dollars max. Only the "superstars" get paid like this.
For every guy who gets paid this amount, there are 1000 of dedicated lifters who struggle. Klokov never struggled, and yet only one WC win.

Then look at Andrei Aramnau, who comes from a shit poor country with almost no support (got 200$ after his olympic win...) and  has the best total in this weightclass.
These are the guys who are insanely talented and define weightlifting for me. Not "crossfit superstar" Klokov.

That means Klokov is a lot smarter than Aramnau. You can't eat a plastic trophy.

Could be, but being smart or not does not have a lot to do with weightlifting does it.  :D

Dedicating your entire life to something that only pays 200 bucks is fucking retarded, I can't respect that no matter how impressive the lifts.

It's like that for all fringe sports though.

Here was the break down for Russia a few years ago -

" Member of the Russian national team has 4 main competitions per year. That includes Cup of Russia, European Championship, Russian Championship and World Championship. Prior to each competition, there is a training camp. Overall, athletes spend 8 months per year in training camps.

Training camps are being held for top 3 athletes of the nationals as well as for young talented prospects. Quiet often training camps are being held in the Academy of Olympic Weightlifting in Taganrog. There is an excellent food there, great diversity of dishes and some athletes gain up to 10 kilos over a camp. Most athletes have personal plans and the head coach only give sthem advice and sometimes corrects athletes personally.

National team member gets a stipend of 15,000 roubles ($ 500) per month and every year each athlete has to earn this stipend by finishing in top 3 @ the Europeans or top 6 @ the worlds.

There are bonuses like for the duration of a year, Russian championship winner receives 45,000 roubles ($900) per month, European champion gets 60,000 roubles ($2,000) per month, World champion gets 90,000 roubles ($3,000) per months and for gold medal @ the Olympics 150,000 roubles ($ 5,000) per month. ”

The Chinese have a similar program and the numbers are close, but the rewards are better on the back end.

The U.S. stipend is $400 - 1000, per month with a few chances at odd jobs here and there. The medal bonus for the olympics was $10, 15, or $25,000 depending on medal placement.
