Gym Equipment Related Mishaps?
« on: January 13, 2015, 01:25:02 PM »
When I was younger and worked out at home, I was able to put together a small weight set thanks to my uncle. He was a super/maintenance man for different apartment buildings so when people would leave any plates or bars behind, he'd bring them to me. I really I loved and miss those rusty plates. Problem was though that overtime I didn't think about either the spring clips being worn out or the same thing happening to the threads on the bars.

I spent a long time with my head up my ass not doing a lot of variety so eventually I started reading more and introducing different exercises, one being a dumbbell pullover. During one set, the clip gave way and all the plates on the one side (I think a 10, 7 1/2, and two 5's) came falling on my face. I was able to turn my head in time so I barely missed a broken nose and having my front teeth knocked out, but did get knocked on the forehead really good, leaving a nasty gash and scar. Lesson learned  :P  Sometimes the equipment at the gym can make me just as nervous.

My buddy and I got a week free pass to this fancy expensive gym downtown.  It litteraly just opened a day or two earlier.  He was doing bench and slaps on 3 plates a side but couldn't find the collars so decided to bench without them.  The weight started slipping on one end then he tilted the bar down and they came right off flipping the bar over and smashing through the mirrored wall to his side.  We just took the fuck off and never went back.  hahaha

My exquisitely perfect form and superior lifting instincts have prevented me from ever suffering a gym equipment related mishap.

When I was about 19 I was gearing up to do some dumbbell shoulder presses. Cleaned the dumbells to shoulder level and then proceeded to sit back down on the bench but somehow landed on my balls. Never experienced pain like it since.

I've hired Jason to be my alarm clock in the morning. Just a shot of him doing his job.

This story is worthless without a mishap.

I told him "this is great ATM", I meant "At The Moment", he thought I meant "Ass To Mouth" so he pulled out and stuffed it in my mouth. Boy, we had a laugh at that one.

When I was in high school are we had a home made squat rack that someone made with tire rims and bent wire welded to the top to hold the bar, I was walking past as some dumb ass pulled all the plates off one side and the bar flipped and hit me in the center of my forehead, I was knocked out and seeing double when I opened my eyes and I had a bump on my head that looked like an egg under my skin
