the best rap lyric ive ever heard
« on: January 22, 2015, 02:51:38 PM »
schooly d - signifying rapper:

the parts of the lyrics that i like the most ive put in bold

Yeah, what's up?
What's going on?
Before we start this next record, I gotta put my shades on so I can feel cool.
You remember that law? When you had to put your shades on to feel cool?
Well it's still the law.
You gotta put your shades on before you can feel cool, know what I'm saying?
I don't put my shades on so I can see what you ain't doing, and you ain't doing nothing.
You ain't doing nothing that I don't do.
Now let's get on with this shit anyway.

Way, way down in the ghetto deep,
The bad-ass pimp stepped on the signifying rapper's feet.
And the rapper said, "guy, can't you see you standing on my motherfucking feet?"
The bad-ass pimp said, "Chump, I ain't heard a cocksucking word you said. You say some more, I'm gonna be standing on your motherfucking head."
Yeah, that's what he said.

Everyday when the sun goes down,
The bad-ass pimp come to kick the rapper's ass all over the ghetto town.
But the rapper got wise, started using his wit,
He said, "Man, I'm getting tired of this kick-ass shit."

So early, early, early in the morning the very next day,
The rapper said, "Mr. Pimp! Mr. Pimp! I got something to say!
There's this mean, big bad homo coming your way.
He talk about you so bad, he turn my hair grey.
Listen to what he say.
Listen to this, mister bad-ass pimp.
This is what the homo said, he said:
He know your daddy, and he's a homo. And your mother's a whore.
He said he seen you selling asshole door to door.

Yeah, that's what he said.
Listen to what else he said, mister bad-ass pimp:

He said your granny, she's a dyke. And your other brother, he's a homo.
And your little sister Lou? She's so low, she sucked the dick of a little maggot.

Yeah, that's he said."

The bad-ass pimp was mad, jumped up in a hell of a rage,
hopped in his caddy, and loaded his 12-gauge.
Caught up with the homo on 55th and Vine,
said, "You homo, it's gonna be your ass or mine."

The homo looked at the pimp and saw fear in the pimp's eyes.
Said, "guy, you better go fuck with somebody your own damn size."
The pimp made his move, and thought he was fast.
The homo sidestepped him and kicked him in his ass.
They fought all that night and all the next day.
That homo kicked his ass in a hell of a way.

Me myself, I don't know how he survived.
He came back to the projects more dead than alive.
And the rapper, staying in another one of them tar-ass project buildings,
He said, "Damn, something smell."
He said, "Mister bad-ass pimp, you look like you been through hell.
As I told one my hoes before you left,
I shoulda kicked your ass my motherfucking self."

other versions of what ? 1992 was pre dvd so it was pretty much only vhs (beta ?) and laser disc 9for the twats). all unsold copies had to be destroyed. i would imagine that 'all unsold copies' meant all of every format it was released on.

unfortunately not. only on the original release video. mind you, that can be downloaded easily enough. i wouldn't even be surprised if that uncut version was available on youtube.

Quote
The original US NC-17 VHS version that was available for rent is completely uncut. As it was produced before the Led Zeppelin legal action, it included all usage of the Schoolly D track "Signifying Rapper".

The theatrical version featured a rap song (Schoolly D's 'Signifying Rapper') based on a riff from Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" without permission. Subsequent video releases omit the song from the soundtrack.

The original theatrical version was released with an NC-17 rating. However, there is an R-rated video version which omits a great deal of critical plot structure.

The UK cinema release was uncut, but the 1995 Guild video version was shorn of 1 min 47 seconds of "instructional" heroin use, and the rape scene was slightly trimmed. The video version also omits the rap song.

This film was passed uncut in the UK in 2003. The previous releases suffered from the following cuts: Rape of the nun: cut: scene where nun's pants are removed revealing pubic hair. Injecting heroin: cut: close-up of Zoe Lund's arm as she injects herself. Injecting heroin: cut: Keitel drinking as he watches Zoe. Injecting heroin: cut: another shot of Zoe's arm with the needle in it. Injecting heroin: cut: close up of Zoe's face. Injecting heroin: cut: Zoe drawing liquid from spoon. (still present in the trailer!) Injecting heroin: 31s replaced by crude dissolve: Zoe injects Keitel. Led Zepplin threatened legal action against a track sounding slightly like "Kashmir". The offending song has been removed from 4 points in the video. Street drug dealing just before Keitel arrives to buy crack: now no music at all. Nun's rape originally to backing track "signifying rapper": now church organ music. Long tracking shot following Keitel into the hospital: now no music at all. End credits: now have Abel Ferrara himself singing.

Ha, white folks hate that song cause of the Led Zep sample. If you've never seen it, it was the main song in The Bad Lieutenant when it first came out, it was all through the film. Now it's scrubbed from all new versions of the film. Schoolly also did a lot of the music in Ferrara's King of New York. Edit - Just saw Brad mentioned this.

Most young folks know Schoolly D now as the MC for ATHF, but he really is the first link in the evolution of rap from the fun party stuff like Rapper's Delight stuff to a much harder realistic sound. This gave pause and reassurance to guys like NWA, BDP, Ice T, etc.... that it was ok and salable to go that way -
