I met Ron in Tampa at the inaugural Tampa Pro... 2006 or 2007?
But his height, demeanor, grace, and overall style weren't what impressed me most. Rather, it was the fact he was the ONLY man in the washroom that chose to wash his hands after using the urinal. Every other cat in there just rushed out, fingers dripping. Not Ron. He took his time and washed. I didn't approach him there, as that's something you just don't do.
Additionally, I was in row 3 or 4. Ron was center cameraman pit. Some beta twink with a camera tried sneaking into Ron's empty spot before he returned. There were ten voices saying "Woah, that's Ron's spot, move it!" kicking the uninvited guest right out of there.
Decades from now, when we look back at the point where bodybuilding, the internet, social media all came together... it'll be Ron Avidan and Getbig that really stand out as pioneers above all.
