Company attempting to project a more “inclusive and diverse” image.

When you think “Abercrombie & Fitch,” you probably think of its rather, um, sexy advertising campaign, what with its topless models and all. But today, the clothing chain announced that it is no longer bringing sexy back.

Yes, according to a press release from Abercrombie & Fitch today, “there will no longer be sexualized marketing used in marketing materials, including in-store photos, gift cards and shopping bags.”

And that includes the hiring of its store staffers by “body type or physical attractiveness.”

Why? Well, it’s because they want to project a more “inclusive and diverse” image. They’re fixing the atmosphere in their stores and their store “models” will now be called “brand representatives.”

Former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries stepped down just months ago, partly due to concerns about past comments he made about the attractiveness of the people they’re attracting.

Another company falls to the fucking fatties. Not that I ever stepped foot into a A&F, but I admired their steadfastness. No more.

The thing is that fatties think they are winning, but they are not. They are still reviled and shunned and need to have shoes thrown at them.

devilsmile, you sort of have that Ambercrombie look from the pics I've seen.

Lean, a little bit of muscle.

You never thought about trying to get into their catalog?

PC world running wild.

In the future I predict the powers that be will outlaw anyone who is in shape from taking off their shirt to make sure fatties and twinks are not offended.  Fatties will be allowed to show as much skin as they want.

A&F intentionally did fat shaming and discriminated against hiring people based on their race.  Too little, too late and Hollister now has the market even though its basically the same company so it really doesn't matter.  Money is still coming in regardless

Race? It seems to me that I've seem plenty of thin, waifish Hebrews working at A&F. I know nothing of this, Vince.

What does the future hold?

Will shirtless male joggers soon be found handcuffed on the side of the road while trying to get in a brisk Spring jog on a sunny day?

the gay will continue to be marketed. Unless you are 200+ pound male with 10bf bodyfat and a groink face, you will always look gay in trendy clothes.

No, what is happening is a shift to the right...as the world becomes more PC, it becomes less inclusive. What you are seeing a alignment to more puritanical behavior, having more in common with Islam...
What will be interesting is to see how far this will go.

No, not against Hebrews....against Arabs.  Some managers have made comments stating....no beans, no kabob, and no rice in reference to applicants.

Nope, that's why they are changing not because of an moral sense or anything. Sales must be pretty bad lately.

So I guess being a racist and bigot company, that didn't want fattys or Asians shopping there. Started to hurt their bottom line.

Nothing wrong with selling those type of clothes but I have noticed that they never hired anyone who was even slightly over weight and considered not good looking. That is a big mistake.
