True and muscle fiber type as well. The more fast twitch muscle fibers a guy has the better he is with maxes and the worse he is with reps. This is why I absolutely believe if a fast twitch freak like levrone was capable of benching 600.
I went to high school with a kid who could only bench 185 for 3 reps.... but could max out at 250. Years later he went on to run a sub 4.4 forty yard dash. He's drug free doesn't know a dbol from a tylenol. Guy just had so many fast twitch muscle fibers.
very true and always found I fall into that category for most muscle groups.
I can handle real good weights under 8 reps, the second I gotta get to 10, gotta go much lighter. That lack of weight has me not looking the best I can be, go to 12 reps, even worse.
It's not about ego lifting to not go light, it's knowing how your body works and being receptive to what works best for you...
