That pretty much sums it up for me Howard. Climbing ropes, nets, obstacles is like being a kid again.
If I was doing military forced rucks and the same thing for real, I don't think I'd enjoy it much either - Donny sums it up well. Also, , I would never even THINK it compares to anything real. (goruck selection nothwithstanding).
I hear ya and can see how adult fitness play can be fun.
I don't want to be pompous and act like some hero for just being on active duty in the USMC.
I volunteered to go and knew what I was getting into.
I also know some fit "tough mudder" types who could post faster times then those in the military.
Let me explain it like this:
The goal of a tough mudder participant is getting thru the course as fast as possible and having some fun.
Then you go home. If you fall or fail to make it , no biggy.
I can see how that can be fun, but as you posted it has nothing to do with being in the military on active duty
In the military, doing the course is just one aspect of a long day of training in the field.
The real goal is to learn to negotiate the course, help your buds make it and survive in combat.
It's stressful, exhausting and quite serious.
Plus, you don't get to go home after the day is done.
