Looks like a bullet proof vest. Probably useful if you're training in the "hood".

I have one +40 lbs. Its good for push-ups or ring rows. For pull-ups, I prefer the belt for extra weight. Just another thing in the arsenal.

Load of shit, in my opinion. I used to have one, and it's just a waste of money. I love running with weight on, but it's far better to use a good backpack that's been properly packed. It will sit on you better and you can actually pack it with stuff that might come in handy (food, water, clothes)

If you're using it in the gym for bodyweight exercise stuff then it's got a purpose, but it makes you look like a twat too. If you're brown then you're gonna look like you're about to wage a fucking jihad on the gym, in your new suicide vest. And if you're anyone else, you'll just look like you're wearing some sort of giant, retard bib.
I prefer a chain to attach a weight to for pull-ups, as you can take it off easier, although the vest would probably be best for weighted push-ups, if you really wanted to do them.

When I was 15 my grandma gave me a sweater vest for Christmas that she knitted.  It had reindeer on it and my parents made me wear it to school.

It's a great way to get in some conditioning work when you are on a strength and/or size focused training schedule and can't afford to do too much sprinting or other high intensity or high impact conditioning. The best use for it in my opinion is to go hill walking - do not underestimate how good a conditioning tool this is, it will crush you. Just make sure to use at least the 40 pound one otherwise it is not worthwhile.

A good backpack is probably okay to use for general conditioning but I would make sure it is an appropriate backpack designed to bear weight over long distances. Also worth to note that a proper weighted vest distributes the weight all around you trunk meaning your upper back/traps are much more involved - the backpack primarily loads your lower back only.

Being older and a wimp now, i would endorse a weight vest. Running with a rucksack, military or civil causes rubbing and pain on the skin..unless of course you know what you are doing ;). If using a rucksack do regular lower back/ab training. The other thing is having the weight ..be it vest or rucksack properly fitted. I remember running with old 58 pattern webbing and if not fitted and tight it was harder and caused unnecessary damage.

Put on a plate carrier and 12 loaded 30 round mags and a rifle and run around the mall a few times. That'll get the heart rate up.

I can only imagine the brutality you experienced that day.

A grandmother is usually the best friend and advocate you can have, but this is a common shortcoming.

Haha, I have run in that get-up, but my post was kind of a joke. Here in the U.S., we are all flipping out because of a CODE RED terrorist threat. A dude running around a mall in full battle-rattle will certainly get "attention" and get that heart rate up.
