I never got that argument either.  Being in favor of artificially propping up the economy with slave labor... because they're rooting for the slaves, whose side they're purportedly on, to keep working for nothing instead of the legislated minimum wage?  As if that isn't already hilariously low.

If lettuce costs $10 to legally produce then that is what lettuce costs.  Why does lettuce get a pass?  They're not going to let me run a cotton plantation where I pay black people $5 a day just because I can make a cheaper tshirt, or coerce a chinaman into performing Amtrak rail maintenance if it makes the ticket cheaper than bus fare.

It's not just lettuce, it's a lot of things... You will not be able to afford a lot of shit you can currently because the inflation will be ridiculous on the products.

I'm not saying it's right, but it's basic economics.

There's a reason why you buy all of your stuff from China.

Oh, I guess I'm wrong.  Having 20 million illegal Mexicans flooding the United States is a great thing for the USA.  Yeah, they are the key to our entire economy.  Thank God for those hard working, brilliant innovators.

There is a difference between seeing the benefit of certain things and being "gung ho" for them.

I don't think that illegals of any sort (they aren't all mexicans by the way) are necessarily "good", but there's a benefit to them being here.

That's just a fact.

Well first of all there are laws in place that illegals of any sort (mostly Mexicans) are not allowed here

It's a slap in the face for every immigrant from Europe to Asia that came here legally within the law

Hey, I don't disagree.. I also know that a very large percentage of illegals are not mexican though.. There are illegals from China, Europe, all over.

Mexico is one country... One.

It just so happens to be closer, so getting across the border is easier from there than other places, but they are not the only people who are getting here illegally.

A lot of them come over on visas legally, then just stay... That's a big part of the european crew.

With respect, I don't really give a shit if most of them are hard working even if I believed that premise, which I don't.  These aren't doctors and scientists, they are unskilled laborers that usually don't pay taxes or bother to learn English.  Also, much of what they earn goes right back to Mexico.  They don't respect our laws and they do not benefit us, in fact it's quite the opposite.  To deny that would be insane.  I live in an area where it is quite plain to see the consequences of having illegal Mexicans here.  We have immigration laws for a reason.  We control the amount of legal immigrants for a reason.  We want to know exactly who is coming into the country for a reason.  Excuses can go screw.

what you are trying to say is they water down the economy with low skills and low income levels but still take the benefits that everyone else gets. ie they are a net drain on society.

C'mon, guy. One country is VASTLY responsible for the drain, this is no secret. The others are merely a distraction, especially anything south or west of us.

Illegal is illegal, sure, but some Limey or Chinaman overstaying an expired work visa is quite different than stuffing la familia de quince under the floorboard of a '97 Aerostar.

Let's keep it honest.

I am.

Let me put it to you like this.

No matter where they come from, what are they doing for work? They aren't working for the big corporations because they aren't hiring illegals. (Maybe Walmart did at one time if I recall) but for the most part, it's not happening.

We had a guy on a odd contract here at the office, they found out he was illegal. Boom... gone.

It was quick and done.

So where are they working?

Are you saying you know a bunch of white people who will be out on the freeways selling oranges? In the lettuce fields?

I'm just saying that I don't know a single person who would do that over their unemployment benefits.

Boy do I was more people would... but there are a lot of lazy people in the US... the large percentage are not the illegals you are saying are the drain.

That's all I'm saying.

I'm no Milt Keynes but wouldn't basic economics suggest a parity or a Nash Point or one of those economist's terms between earnings and the cost of living as the state toward which shit will naturally trend?

Ever other country can make stuff its people can afford to buy without exploiting an illegal laboring underclass.  How do they make it work?

I was simply addressing country of origin. However, the problem isn't so much Señor y Señora Lettuce and Primo peddling oranges.

It's that they fuck a lot. And Catholics don't believe in contraception, so every load makes another niño, each more Americanized than the last. They don't seem to inherit much of the folks' work ethic, only their hatred of condoms. So they make babies, too, a whole f'n shitload of 'em. Lettuce and oranges gonna pay for all that?

There's your drain.

Is this true? I mean, do other countries make stuff its own people can afford? At least in the 1st world countries?

Perhaps this is a demonstration of the dwindling middle class... I wouldn't argue against that premise of course.

I don't really know.

They are not the only ones, but yes, that's true.

It's true.  They really do that in some places.

Economics is all well and good but if we're going to take a scientific approach then you really can't go past physics.  Thing is, when the mexican is picking the vegetables, there's a large thermodynamic inefficiency inherent in that labor.  He's drinking water.  He's expending energy.  He's even going to have to be provided with some form of sustenance in order to continue.  I haven't run the numbers but the waste is pretty obvious.

Now, nobody really likes vegetables.  We've all heard how beef production generates green house gasses and requires vast acreage to produce only a small amount of beef, yet steak continues to be an American favorite.  We are a carnivorous people.  I modestly propose, therefore, that we nevermind so much about the veggies and simply eat the mexicans.

Would seriously love to see the numbers. Does he expand less energy than he produces... would make for an excellent subject matter.

most of them just like blacks or muslims, willingly have tons of kids hoping to replace white people, it doesnt take too long when discussing with them for them to tell it like it is. Especially when they re convinced their latino god and jesus told them to do so.

it s a race war people, make no mistake. Maybe not for the rich hipsters or conservatives, but they are a minority, not the majority. The majority outnumber us because they re fighting a racial war with their bellies and dicks.

Good on Trump for speaking the truth. It's the losers that are going to stand out regardless. There is good and bad within every race. Whether someone is hardworking or not makes no difference. Give American jobs to American citizens first and foremost, instead of allowing every dick and jane from some foreign country to take jobs.

You do realize that your beloved America was FOUNDED ON IMMIGRANTS? If it wasn't for immigrants coming over from Europe, you wouldn't be American.  ::)

Wow I've never heard of this before. Please enlighten me

My parents were "legal" immigrants from Germany

People coming over illegally is a big slap in the face to me, my parents and others who did it the right way

Legal immigration for most of us meant just showing up at Ellis Island, and before that at any dock.  All of my ancestors were here well before there was a Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (1906). The most recent immigrant was my namesake (Timothy Fogarty) in 1850.  I also have ancestors in Jamestown Colony in 1620, including at least one indigenous great^11 grandmother.

other than slaves being brought in to the country in violation of one regulation or another, there was no such thing as an illegal immigrant until the Immigration Act of 1917, which denied entry to all east Asians and Pacific Islanders.

First quotas limiting entry from various countries was in 1921.

Those wacky Mexican nationals.  Helping the US economy by keeping the coroners busy.

http://insider.foxnews.com/2015/06/24/oklahoma-sportscaster-bob-barry-jr-killed-motorcycle-accident-involving-illegal-immigrant

Gallagher reported that the suspect, Gustavo Gutierrez, is a Mexican national who was in the U.S. illegally.

Gutierrez was arrested for causing an accident while operating a vehicle without a state driver’s license and possession of cocaine, Gallagher said.
