I read the article and most definitely they were taught a religion. Parents should be angry and they should be disgusted.

I'd have to see the full context, to be honest, that curriculum doesn't look much different than what I remember from my mid 90's High School courses. With the way religion is so wrapped up in Islamic, and in turn, Middle Eastern politics, you have to touch on it.
