China isn't overtaking anyone. The entire culture is based on copying. So if they take over the world, who they going to copy from, lol?
Go spend some time in the national museum in Taiwan. The very first time piece in China was a bad copy of a watch a European brought. Even with a 5000 year head start they were still backwards.

Imagine this.. take out electricity from any current civilization and you're back to the middle ages.. One invention can change the course of a civilization a lot. read some history and you'll understand..

*GunPowder, etc, etc..
Now take any regular random US youth vs chinese youth.. make them do math, history, philosophy, etc.. you'll understand why.
