Half of the northern Ireland people want to be a part of Britain and half want to be a part of Ireland. Three of its nine counties are a part of Ireland and the other six, which contain people who want to be Irish and people who want to be British are a part of Britain. It's still a dangerous place up there where you wouldn't fuck around in the wrong neighborhood, it has its Catholic and protestant areas. I live on the other side of Ireland, the complete Irish part but I've been up there many times

That was a long time ago, and I don't think the young ones give a damn about religion anymore.  Pretty much the first time in history.  The Brits have been fighting geography since fat Henry, so it's been a good run through all those years when the Crown had some clout, but they never managed to get it all.  You got to get it all, like the Yanks from the Injuns, or you just get this ongoing drama.  I reckon sooner or later the place will just revert to it's natural borders.

Eventually Scotland will probably break away.

The UK has been in steady decline since the end of World War II.

Won't happen. This last referendum proved that. Add in the fact that more and more non Scottish immigrants are being settled there, and it's a slow death. It's fate was sealed two years ago. Enjoy living in little Scottistan.

Am I the only one who finds it very curious this is happening in places where it's very difficult to own guns?

no. barring france the vast majority of terrorist attacks in europe are with bombs. how do you stop a bomb with a gun ? you don't know who has it or where it is. in fact guns are much more readily available in france than they are in the uk, could be the reason why guns were the weapon of choice in paris attacks.

tbh even if terrorist attacks could be stopped by having a ridiculous number of guns in society(which they couldn't). i would still rather take my chances of falling victim to terrorists than have a 4-5 time higher murder rate as is the case the states.

not great logic is it....lets arm every tom, dick and harry to protect ourselves from terrorist attacks but in doing so we will also make it 5 times more likely you're murdered anyway  ???

I'm referring to the idea that government's ability to practice tyranny seems tied to gun ownership. People protested being inundated with refugees left, right, and center but had no choice.

i think i have seen this discussed a few times already on here. even in the states where you have more guns than people in society, most agree that with the level of military sophistication available to western governments, even if the people did take up arms they would be defeated quite easily.

civilian gun ownership really serves no functional purpose in developed society, no matter how much we try to fly in the face of logic denying it.

You're correct in stating that armed citizens wouldn't be able to stand against government tyranny.

I respectfully disagree that government military might makes the the right to bear arms antiquated.

You're wrong on your first response. To think that if an entire populace rose up against the government that the soldiers would continue to blast civilians and not join them is being short sighted.

The entire populace will never stand up against anything.

Perhaps you don't remember the IRA and ETA bombings of the 70s and 90s?

Well done, Tim. Someone needs to defend the honor of these unfairly criticized Islamic terrorists.
