As you get older you become more practical and less idealistic. It becomes a business. Odds are against him to ever winning the O no matter how good he gets. And I don't think he's ever really going to get any better. If he hasn't hit the conditioning necessary to win after all these years then it probably isn't going to happen at 40 years old.

Why is it greedy when someone accepts more money from another source but it's not greedy for all the people who has made money using him? Nobody is going to give him a million bucks if they don't think they are going to get that money back ten-fold.

If what you say is true then good for Kai. Take the million and fuck the IFBB. They're only there to use you to promote their own business and agenda.

Compared with how he could have ended up, Kai is winning in life.

I don't think it does. If a multiple Arnold Classic winner and the #2 bodybuilder in the world feels that he is worth more money, then why not ask for it? You are what you think are worth.
It's high time that these bodybuilders start to ask or demand for more. They are the ones who diet, take all the drugs, food, etc and hawk the supps for the companies.
And this goes right along with what he has been saying. Overcoming obstacles. Bodybuilders must overcome the obstacle of being or allowing themselves to be exploited or not getting paid what they are worth or their market value.

NFL players do it every year.   Phil is making a million a year.  Kai was making half that and made a move.  Happens in all sports when players want to be paid more.  The cost of finding another Kai Greene is a lot more than 400k. 

it all comes down to replaceability.  They can get almost anyone to host the show.  They can get anyone to run cameras.  But to replace a Kai on the stage?  20 years of training and eating and posing and developing fan base?   it's why Lebron is legit worth half a million per ball game played.  There is no replacing him easily. 

The CEO of McD is hard to replace, so he makes ten million.  The fry cook at McD can be trained in 30 minutes, so he makes 7 bucks.  Replaceability.

The differences between Heath and Greene are education, business acumen, intelligence, upbringing, and emotional maturity. Heath can work with partners to run a business. Agreed, with Pellius too... A bit disappointed regarding the situation, we'll probably never know who's really to blame, IFBB/AMI or Greene, or both, but what can you say to him? He's 40 years old, he'll never win the Olympia no matter the shape, he hit his peak 5-6 years ago, if he can make more money without competing good for him...

Who's to blame as far as Kai not competing this year?  It should be obvious he didn't sign the contract, and if he wanted to compete I'm sure he would as all he'd have to do is pay some sort of fine, in this "sport" money always talks loudest.

It's fair to say he won't win the O no matter what condition he shows up in,  Phil has it and until the judges decide otherwise he will continue to win, as has been documented by the history of the contest (there's still people here that contest the validity of the 1980 Mr O), it's just the way it is. Outside of Dexter (and only God knows why he got a win at that time) the champ has to be in HORRIFIC shape and/or holding down his inevitable  successor (Ronnie/Jay)  in order to lose.

Kai, despite appearing to be a buffoon, is a lot smarter than he gets credit for. 

Bottom line, is he saw an opportunity and he took it.
