don't know about receptors starting to fry, just looks like 5 or 6 years of consistently banging in huge doses of insulin have caught up with him the last couple years and he's gained intramuscular fat maybe. insulin fucks up the skin as well, not as thin as it was and waist has widened, gut has protruded etc.
