1/4 reps on the Smith machine.

I think there is a video of him squatting for reps back in the 90's.

Your legs don't have to be all that big to be good at squatting. You see a lot of powerlifters whose legs look pretty much like Tyson's do there.

I believe it. Tyson was believed to have taken drugs like halotestin and cheque drops and he was clearly on other aas throughout his career so plus he was a naturally gifted athlete therefor very believable

I believe it. Why's it so hard to believe ? Tyson was a beast. A strong one at that.

I seen a relatively scrawny high school kid squat reps with 405....so I'm sure Mike Tyson could pull it off.

Go to 4:27 on this video. Very quick clip of him using a pad with 225 and him doing 1/4 reps. Any more deeper and 225 would eat him up. If you don't think so, you don't know weight lifting. The guy is using a pussy pad on the bar like a chick...lol

Going to any reasonably-appropriate depth, Tyson would have been sunk with 405.

Here's what 405 would do to Mike Tyson without a spot and going deep

I'd believe #405 out of machine for a few reps. He's had phases where his legs were better, and he's an explosive guy, so I can see him gutting out #405 on a machine where you take balancing the bar, etc.... out of the equitation.

P.S. I hadn't seen this before, Tyson's first professional fight -

Also to be fair he had the neck pad probably cause he suffered from a bad neck injury that he dealt with for a long time until having surgery on it a couple of years ago.

Mike Tyson was a genetic freak. At 13 he weighed around 190 pounds with a bb physique. He became a heavyweight champion at the age of 20, weighing in at 220 pounds of solid muscle.

As far as I know he did not use weights for his training in his early career. He only did shrugs with dumbells and running with a backpack with weights (cause Cus did not want him to get taller).

Later on he started using more bb exercise in his training routine. I have no doubt that a prime Tyson would squat 405 for reps. Its not that heavy for a 220 athlete with thick legs.

But you don't know what he had been doing before he squatted the 225 in that vid , that could have been at the end of a workout where his legs were already fried.

Don't know whether he did ever squat 405 but 405 for reps is certainly well within the reach of a person of his build in his prime.

If a drunk retard like myself can squat 405 for reps then a gifted athlete like Tyson do would be toying around with it.
