Guns
« on: October 03, 2015, 05:22:47 AM »
So bros, i dont watch the news anymore or leave my house much ...what level is the conservatard panicked hysteria at now after each passing shooting like the oregon one? havnt been gun shopping since the sandy hook thing went down and i couldnt buy any ammo or magazines for my gun let alone find a new gun i wanted, since gun show lines were 2 miles long to get in and prices were inflated by 200 percent for almost a year.

Is the same shit goin on again? Long lines filled with coachs sayin "bama gonna take our guns! Need to get more!"? or has that shit died off like navy mikes postings on getbig?

Gun control will never get through Congress. Obama might try some EOs to get around that, but right now it's just political theater to paint the NRA as the big-bad again. Tired old playbook that moves zero minds. Fires up the base.

Buy a gun if you want one, but don't buy at a gun show. They are fun to attend, because a big room full of gun owners is a blast, but find a local gun shop and buy there. You'll get better service and probably a better deal. There are no super deals at a gun show. Ever.

Exactly my point, just the base of morons get riled up. Curious if they have grown tired of that yet, as nothing ever happens and guns will never be illegal in the us. Its political suicide to ban weapons and moronic to even think that would happen

Once it was discovered the shooter was mixed race, the story and possible subsequent panic seems to have quieted down.

And I think it's a good thing morons as you put it get riled up. Better than staying quiet and having libs think they have a chance of making something happen.

What specific changes does Obama want?

Please nothing vague.   Loopole sales and national check to keep mental cases and restraining order purchases- anything else?  Those are both good things.  Right now an ex con can easily buy guns, as can a person with restraining order on them for domestic violence.

What changes, specifically?   Serious q

We can't solve a problem without know what the problem exactly is...

More mental health studies. That's the only solution that wouldn't "jump the gun"

Most people agree with closing the loopholes but you're incredibly naive if you believe that the anti-gun movement will stop there. There will be more mass murders and the anti-gun movement will press for confiscation. If you don't believe that then you've never had a discussion with anti-gun activists who truly want to rid the country of guns. Except for police, military, celebrities and criminals.

Remember it is not a loophole.  It was specifically designed that way so that there would not be a record of every gun sale.  Without this it would never have passed.  Gun show sales are no more than sales between private persons.  Requiring every one of those to be registered is not closing a loophole any more than changing the definition of dog to include cats would be for dog licenses.

If I were a crazy person, and wanted to buy a gun, I could get one in under 2 hours.  How do you stop that.   ???

I don't care what the anti-gun idiots "want".   Obama had both houses and definitely WANTED it but didn't do shit.  I know most people "want" to slaughter half the world and rape the other, but what they want and what they do that actually effects me, big difference.

What I'm asking - what nobody can answer - is what unreasonable things obaba wants to enact thru legislation with a repub hosue/senate, or exec action.   I'm sure there are some things, but I haven't seen his desires in detail.   IMO, he's just talking shit to fundraise for dems, but I could be wrong, maybe executive order.

Aside from stopping anyone from buying private party - something that is massively dangerous -
Aside from stopping mental health/restraining order people from driving across border to buy guns - also bad -

What is it obama says he intends to do which actually affects us.

Hmm not sure if that's true. I think her in the pacific nw gun shows have some of the best deals. It's just the local gun shops setting up their booths there anyway.

^^^^This.

I've bought from guns shows and only private sellers can sell to you without a FFL or a background check.

Families stop trying to protect their mentally ill family members would be a step in the right direction. Sick people need to be institutionalized, but we live in such a selfish, pussified society.

Fixed.

Seriously though, if you don't think we need to get mentL institutions back up and running in this country, you're a looney yourself. We need better care for nut cases, not just letting them roam the streets. It would cut down on the homeless population too.

nobody here can even answer "what is it obama will do", much less tell us how it will affect these terrible shootings.

Better security, #1.  Unarmed security = idiot decision.   Unarmed students = idiot decision.
And keep guns out of hands of crazy and ex-cons, will lower number, for sure, but not all.
