Don't think for a second that isn't already happening. When Assad's men or Kurdish rebels get hold of ISIS members, I'm sure they inflict equally brutal executions on them. The only difference is that they won't film it and upload it on the internet.
All armies engage in torture so no army can take the moral high ground. We all saw the pictures that emerged from Abu Ghraib for example.

Up until this point, they don't seem like they are that fearful of us. To be honest, I don't have a clue what would stop them. Obviously, if you drop a nuke on their country, that will, but that is unrealistic and will not happen. So, thinking realistically, what can actually stop them or strike fear in them?
