The crowd was all paid to be there. Unlike Evel Kenevel, no stunts have the flair or showmanship he did.
I'm guessing Stride couldn't get any hotel to sponsor this event, due to the possibility Luke landed on someone.
The only time people care about skydiving or BASE jumping is when there is a gimmick attached. Landing in boxes, net, high jump, etc.
I still like the jump where Pastrana jumps out shirtless, no rig and hooks himself to someone mid air.
It's always the same comments on a jump like this, huge balls, no brains, etc. just say, more guts than me...and accept it...haha. Luke isn't a dumb guy. Many stuntmen are meticulous about planning and not the yoyos many would like them to be. It's easier to say someone isn't smart or reckless to feel better about their mundane existence.
A little like the father on a dull road trip with the family seeing a guy on motorbike going 100mph past their family truckster and goes...smart. That guy is having a blast, you're going bass fishing for the weekend.
