anyone drop below 2k cals before?

im frusterated with stagnant fat loss, trying to be "moderate" this time around, eating 2100 or so.
i dieted hard on 1600 and looked the best ever. then, all went to shit and decided to take a break. in that 5-7 months of eating what i wanted , i figured my metabolism would likely be reset so I could diet even higher at w2300 or something. maintenence is like 2600 for me.
im thinking its absolute bullshit and that to lose more, ill have to hit it hard again in the 1500-1800 range again which im annoyed with. old age and being natty sucks ass

My average caloric intake is 1500 a day before exercise.  So with cardio added that burns about 700 calories I eat a total of 1800 to 2000.

how are you getting along during the day (energy wise) at that amount?

I'm currently maintaining at around that many calories...per the intranet I should be maintaining at around 3000 calories but I don't have the time and it's not really necessary
mind you- I don't aim for that caloric intake....I just eat a sensible breakfast and dinner...I'll snack on almonds if I'm hungry in between
I also- have "free meals" when I want but that's usually just once a week

honestly--it's much easier for me this way than doing the 6 meals a day thing ....after I smartend up and learned that i didn't have to be a slave to 6 meals a day and live my life things have been much easier

i actually stopped doing cardio as everyone said here that diet is all thats needed. to a degree this may be true, but I wonder if my body works best when utilizing it. maybe i need to do a mile jog EOD or some treadmill walking

some of you just dont workout hard, or as hard as you should.  There is no matabolic stress caused by your workout, thus rendering your attempts to be 'swole' or even have abs useless.  But you'll btch about the gased up bros hitting the weights hard, you take preworkout and do cable/machine everything except maybe on arms and chest you do some DBs.  

so if you do, do cardio - make sure its worthwhile - break a sweat - because thats the only thing that will tell your body to burn fat

Rotate calories, body adapts extremely quickly and strives for balance.
I go down to 2k ish (which for me is very low) but it's only as part of a rotation, to help prevent insulin resistance and get/stay leaner.

During cardio? Lower intensity burns more absolute fat, per minute, period.  If you don't believe me, just get a vo2max test.

What about EPOC?  Nebulous subject, but I've never seen anyone credible suggest you actually burn more calories total from a duration-equivalent HIIT session, which is the form of exercise most commonly discussed in the same breath as EPOC.  Alan aragorn published a research review in which he claimed equivalent (not greater than) total calories burned from same-duration HIIT and steady-state sessions.

The thing is, no one can burn fuck all calories in 20 minutes, so the HIIT thing makes fuck all sense, IMO.

PS thong I'm eating about 4k calories right now, no fat difference compared to when I was trying to stay between 2500 and 3000.  In fact the calipers read a few mm less.  But haven't been on higher cals long enough to draw serious conclusions yet.

Running burns about 100 cals a mile. I run about 12 miles a week, for a total of about 1200 cals which is about the number of cals in a pint of Ben Jerry's which I can knock down in about ten minutes.

Exercise for health and fitness, just don't believe it's a substitute for dietary discipline.

Confuse the muscles. Eat 5000 calories one day and then drop it down to 1500 the next. Shock the body!

i used to diet on 400 calories

I think our society's concept of 'normal amount if cardio' is not healthy, though.  I aim to burn 1000-1500 cals per day, and I'm still mostly sedentary.

2000 calories and 12 hours of sitting a day... Maybe it 'works' for some people, but the thought makes me I'll.

A lot of bro science here. The old thinking was to do low intensity cardio because it uses fat for fuel as opposed to high intensity cardio that uses more sugar. It doesn't matter what fuel your body is using but what is the caloric cost of the activity.

 I believe if you use a treadmill it's good to mix up the training week between duration and intervals. Hard distance runs with easy distance runs with some intervals days thrown in.  Then again we are talking bodybuilding here and not becoming a better athlete.

 Most good bodybuilders I know just use walking on a treadmill to add to their lifting while on steroids. I also believe there is an after burn to hard cardio. Old thought was that it just the calories used during the activity. We all know people that have lost drastic weight with cardio that doesn't reflect the calories used in the activity. It's been said a pound of fat is 3500 calories but a pound of muscle is 600 calories. It would seem simple math can be used to chart the fat coming off but it doesn't work like that so I theorize there are calories being burned hours after a run. 

Another point is that when you lose weight it's just about impossible to lose only fat unless you are juicing. The gold standard in fat measurement is still underwater weighing. Fat calipers and those electronic scales are notoriously off. If you can look at yourself in the mirror without delusion you will know if you are lean without any testing method.

yea, believe it or not this is my pec after tendon surgery! tore it in 2010 heavy bench pressing, operated a year later. Surgeon did a horrible job aesthetically but at least its functional again which it wasn't prior.
