how about a CPAP for performance? i sleep well but if i can squeeze out better zzzzz would it be worth it? thinking like a cyclist

Cpaps only work for you if you have apnea...Roll a sound recorder in your bedroom and listen the next day to segments at 15 minute intervals...listen for snoring and stopping breathing.

Every one has periods of apnea when they sleep.  It is normal.  Once you have more than 5 events per hour, then you are considered to have sleep apnea.  I know a couple of docs that wear a CPAP every night to make sure they get the best quality of sleep possible.  I wouldn't bother with it if you don't have sleep apnea.  I have to wear one as I have severe sleep apnea, and it really sucks wearing a mask every night to sleep.  The only sure way to know if you have sleep apnea is to get a sleep study done.

Most of those fund raising products are bogus products.
Anyway, the good news for me is that I'm free from apnea (score went from 15 to 1 stops), so no need for a cpap :)

I also have the Resmed Airsense 10 autoset.  Very good machine.  If you get on the sleep apnea forums you can get the info to unlock the clinicians menu and change all the settings to your liking.

I have apnea and started using cpap last october.

Don't snore much now....very mild if any.

Lost a ton of weight.  Test levels increased.

Get quality sleep.  Not tired next day.  Blood pressure came way down.

Good therapy.  Mask doesn't irrirate my face and i have sensitive skin.

Takes time to adjust to cpap.  Don't give up and know everyone goes through it.  Mask sometimes comes off during the night.

Don't remember brand or style....it was their standard mask that covers nose and mouth.

Tough to use with seasonal allergies or if you're sick with cough.

started about 3 months ago, never felt better

I don't think so either...from the standpoint of providing enough of a volume of air at the proper pressure of around 12 centimeters of water.  You need a certain sized fan at a certain rpm...I doubt if electrostatic air movement would be forceful enough.

I've been using the cpap machine now for about a month. I got a nose and mouth mask. It's taking some getting use to. First week I only made it 3-4 hours a night before taking it off. I'm up to 5-6 hours now. I feel somewhat better. I should be going to bed earlier because I get up at 5 for work. I usually don't make it to bed until about 11. Weekends I sleep a bit more.
