Prices of Mr olympia tickets 2016
« on: June 02, 2016, 10:09:00 AM »
the prices seam to be going for 230 up to 700 bucks for a single seat for the Olympia for saturdays show and these seam to be seats that are not even that good, maybe I was looking at a shitty cite to buy them from but I gotta say fuck that shit,  I was actually entertaining the thought of going this year.

Anyone ever go to the O and what did you pay for a single seat?

I've gone often the last time I went and it was worth it was in 2000.  I was in the 3rd row and had VIP tickets. You can't even buy VIP Gold single seats for the prejudging or finals.

Ya know, I went to a lot of shows for years , but stopped in 2008.
Just seems a lot different now and they make it tough to even buy decent seats now.
Not sure why?

More $$$.  They even stopped giving a free comp ticket to the competitors for a friend to come and watch.  So lame.  I paid $50 for an IFBB pro show and I was only there for my friend.  It definitely wasn't worth it IMO.

The Olympia tickets my friends got last year were about $175 I believe.  Nobody cared where they sat because unless you're in the first few rows you can't really see much anyway and have to watch the screen.

I would not pay that much money for the Olympia.  People watched it in the hotel on the internet last year and I don't even think it sold out.  May be a few less empty seats this year with Kevin's old obsessed fan base.  Horny old men to be specific.

Only show I ever paid to see was my first. It was the ... 1990? ... Niagara Falls Pro, where Eddie "Major Guns" Robinson won.

Haven't been to a contest since I left the industry.

I'd never drop one dollar to watch a thong battle, now.

As much as I'm a fan of bodybuilding, I gotta say going to shows is boring as shit.  First off, they're too long. I recently went to the Jay Cutler classic and was with Stuntmovie. If I remember correctly prejduging started at 12 and it ended around 4:45-5:00.  It was just absolutely ridiculous and by the end as I scanned the crowd, I noticed only a quarter of the people were there from what was there in the beginning. I didn't go back for the night show, I was spent. This shits gotta change.  I know promoters are happier than pigs in shit with these new divi$ion$ but fuck, I don't think these other divisions need to cling to bodybuilding to be successful anymore.  I think classic physique, physique, fitness, bikini and figure can stand as on entity and open bodybuilding can be open bodybuilding for men and women (with dramatic changes in judging otherwise just leave it off). For national shows you can combine it but for local shows it should be split up to lend to a more enjoyable experience. Cause as it stands right now, there's too many competitors in many shows and once you experience one, you're very weary about going back.

Good post Wiggs, but it's unlikely to change, even if loyal meathedzs like us have stopped going. Why?
The promoters don't even try to appeal to the avg bodybuilding fan now ( like us).
Take a national show and do some simple math.

With at least 500-600 bikini/figure entrants at $250 per entry feed, that's $125,00 JUST FOR THEIR ENTRY FEES!!!!!
Now add another 400-500 bodybuilders, wpd, mpd and the new cpd and that double to a qtr million on just f'n entry fees.

Now most of the bikini/figure girls bring a damn posse friends and family to see them so they all buy tickets.
If bodybuilding fans like us fail to show, they don't lose much $$.

AGAIN, the idea is to make money directly from the those on stage in the show.
There is no real concern to bring in outside fans now.
This is basic  "HS yearbook 101" marketing.
Sell to those in the actual book for an inflated price . Even if nobody else buys it, you make $$$

are you able to smell the fish market when they are all onstage  ???

I love my friends but I tell them I am only coming to finals. I can't sit through prejudging. As far as the new divisions it's become a participation event. I can remember going and there would be maybe 2-4 people who looked like they hadn't dieted. These days it's more like 40%. The show we went to most of the crowd was there for the men's physique and bikini divisions to see friends and families. a bodybuilding show
On its own would not make any real money

The one good thing about the Olympia is that there's a bar in house where you can pregame so you can make it a little more fun. It's definitely not worth $230 though...especially when some of the guys looked like they were going to sleep! (Shawn Rhoden)
