The sad part is Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons in exchange for protection from Russia promises from The West. The west is not protecting them and they don't have their Nukes anymore which would have deterred Russia. The West has betrayed the Ukraine.

Wouldnt have mattered, once a warship gets into firing range , they can drop a huge amount of ordinance on a target in seconds.  They are also heavily armored.  More men would have been more dead people
