Trump goes on O'Reilly to attack Miss Universe, again
« on: September 28, 2016, 11:32:44 PM »
He's making this Jerry Springer instead of a race about his strengths and Hillary's crimes.   He can't stay on message.

In the situation Donald Trump is in with former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, any media professional or really anyone with a conscience would say this: "We quarreled many years ago. It's in the past. I truly wish her the best." Done and done.

But just an hour ago Trump went on O'Reilly to again trash Machado, now saying that he saved her job, gave her a shot at not being fat and this is the thanks he gets. Yes, he really said that. "You know, they wanted to fire her. The company itself wanted to fire her. I saved her job ... I saved her job because I said that's going to -- I did that with a number of young ladies. The staff itself (wanted to fire her). Look what happened. Look what I get out of it. I get nothing. A lot of things are coming out about her."

OREILLY: Other avenue they are going to come after you is the women card. They are going to say that you are a mean guy and you don't respect women. Do you have anything further to say on this Miss Universe thing?

TRUMP: No, not much. I hardly know this person. This was a person 20 years ago. She wasn't a successful, you know, I sold the Miss Universe contest for tremendous price about, you know, six months ago. Worked out great. So I don't have anything to do with it anymore. But I really enjoyed it when I had it. But this is a person, Bill that that was the first one under my ownership. She did not do well. She had a lot of difficulty. And, you know, they wanted to fire her. The company itself wanted to fire her. I saved her job. I will bet you if you put up and added up all the time I spoke to her probably less than five minutes. I mean, I wasn't -- I had nothing to do with this person, but they wanted to fire her. I saved her job because I said that's going to -- I did that with a number of young ladies. The staff itself. Look what happened. Look what I get out of it. I get nothing. A lot of things are coming out about her.

Another Miss Universe Contestant Says She Was Fat-Shamed By Donald Trump

A second Miss Universe contestant has come forward to claim that she was fat-shamed by Donald Trump.

Jodie Seal, who was Miss Australia in the 1996 event, told Inside Edition that the future Republican presidential nominee called the girls “some pretty horrible names.”

“He said to me, ‘suck your stomach in, or suck your gut in,’” she recalled. “He always wanted us to be sexy.”

She also described him as “controlling.”

“He’d walk by while we were eating,” Seal said. “He put a lot of the girls down.”

Trump is currently embroiled in a controversy over one of Seal’s fellow competitors. Alicia Machado, who won the event as Miss Venezuela, said Trump called her “Miss Piggy” for gaining weight after winning, and “Miss Houskeeping” because of her Latina heritage.

Former Inquirer reporter recalls that time Trump called her the c-word

There was no hello. But there was yelling, lots of yelling.

The word “shit” was used repeatedly as a noun and adjective.

I had shit for brains.

I worked for a shitty newspaper.

What sort of shit did I write.

Before I could reply, he hung up.

Then he called my editor in Philadelphia, Craig Stock. Now it was Craig’s turn to “Hold for Mr. Trump.”

Craig was treated to the same Trumpian wordplay, but got an added treat. Trump referred to me as “that girl.”

Craig, a calm Iowan, asked Trump what was wrong with the story. He explained that The Inquirer would run a correction if the paper had made an error.

Trump snapped that he didn’t read the story.

“No one reads the story,” the 41-year-old blustered. “I read the headline and I didn’t like it.”

Craig suggested that he read the story, then call him back if there were any problems.

He did not hear back from Trump.

Jennifer Lin spent 31 years as a reporter for The Philadelphia Inquirer, including stints in the paper’s bureaus in New York; Washington, D.C.; and Beijing. Her book, Shanghai Faithful: Betrayal and Forgiveness in a Chinese Christian Family, will be released on March 17.
