I know a group of guys who use that exact same phrase, they scream and shout at the top of their voices on every set, even dumbell curls ffs.

his orginal heavy duty which was training 4 days a week splitting the body in half and training each muscle twice a week with 4-6 heavy sets per muscle each workout was rather ideal

later when he switched to that consoldation routine of training just once a week with just 2 exercises per workout was a pipe dream though and not applicable to real world results

he always said to watch out for overtraining but you also need to be aware of undertraining

I have researched mike mentzer principles extensively and a lot of people seems to misunderstand what he means, he said there are some people in the population that have very limited recovery ability and even training twice per week is too much for them so in those cases he recommends training once weekly so they can grow and see results.
