In Europa many FIAT diesel cars had very bad emission problems in independent testing. No surprise the diesel FCA trucks also suck

My dad bought a TDI Passat which has been recalled. I think he's getting around $10k back. He already bought a '17 E300 haha. I think he's supposed to drop off the VW next month.

Yeah - it's 6-10k cash depending on model, plus they offer to buy the car back at its value at the time of the announcement of the scandal - so Sept of 2015 or so.

If it turns out there's a fix for it, it's the cash and free fix if you want to keep it.

The diesel engines are maximum overclocked, a real euro 6 would cost like 80000 euros on a compact car with 100 hp. The solution is to switch on electric when the infrastructure appears or to squeze gasoline engines to the max ( variable distribution, bi turbo..) . Until then they all piss on nature in the name of father profit
