You should read my other statements to him:
Sure, I used some examples, however, there is no available evidence to suggest that legalizing marijuana will lead to the downfall of society. And since you and others are making the claim against marijuana, it makes sense that you would provide evidence--I don't care about anecdotal evidence.
I acknowledged that I used some personal experience, but also stated that he is making the claim that legalizing marijuana will lead to X therefore the burden of proof lies with him.
Read more than one of my posts.
You are claiming it won't when there are lots of studies that support it being detrimental to mental function, etc.
These are a few with just a quick search:
http://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/article-abstract/2484901https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3037578/https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3221171/Neither of you can really provide proof for either side of the equation as it still hasn't been widely legalized/studied long enough to see the effects over time in the general population, but is it worth the "risk" to society by fully legalizing it considering what is shown by various studies? He seems to have more to back up his position based on what I've seen/read.
I'm not really on one side or the other, btw, but would tend towards not fully legalizing it or there has to be a strong regulation system which maybe that is what is being pushed for (legalization to general population but with regulations). It is odd how alcohol is permitted but marijuana not but that doesn't necessarily mean that it should be fully legalized.
I guess the main issue would be whether it is detrimental to the individual mainly or does it have a large effect on those outside that individual as well.
Plus it stinks really bad!!
