Not bad. It was close to the standard bodybuilding interview, and the hosts schmoe out hard, but Phil comes off decent. Much better than he does on other interviews, social media, etc.....
1) Claims he spends $50,000 getting ready for the Olympia in terms of food, Hany's training, massage, etc.... No talk of drugs.
2) Claims he got fucked out of millions of dollars by Gifted Nutrition, has a current lawsuit against them. Mentioned that it soured him on most bodybuilding companies, and that he will only be involved in business ventures that he has a much more active role in. Gives props to Weider, Bill Phillips, Connelly/Met-Rx, and the older guys. From his perspective, they were much better to deal with.
3) Claims the Generation Iron horse scene was caused by shitty film making spooking the horse -
.
4) Takes little jabs at Kai. Doesn't like how Generation Iron and Kai played up the poor man angle. He was annoyed that fans couldn't see that, and that Kai was probably making in the low - mid six figures at that point. Wondered what Kai does with his money.
Phil seemed a bit annoyed at the whole Generation Iron experience.
5) Wouldn't want his kid to be a pro. Feels he'd wind up living in the shadow of his father.
6) Really likes Steve Weinberger. Claims he is one of the best at sorting out the bad bodybuilders from the good.
7) Doesn't want to deal with fans at the gym. If you must, talk to him coming or going.
First hour is most of the bodybuilding stuff.
