Trump dictated son’s misleading statement on meeting with Russian lawyer

Flying home from Germany on July 8 aboard Air Force One, Trump personally dictated a statement in which Trump Jr. said that he and the Russian lawyer had “primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children” when they met in June 2016, according to multiple people with knowledge of the deliberations. The statement, issued to the New York Times as it prepared an article, emphasized that the subject of the meeting was “not a campaign issue at the time.”

The claims were later shown to be misleading.

“This was . . . unnecessary,” said one of the president’s advisers, who like most other people interviewed for this article spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations. “Now someone can claim he’s the one who attempted to mislead. Somebody can argue the president is saying he doesn’t want you to say the whole truth.”

Dear Coach, here's the difference between the Trump/ Russia investigation and the call to reopen Hillary's :

1. Trump is the current POTUS. Hillary was sec of state 4 years ago and lost the election.
Current investigations of a sitting President will always be a much bigger deal.

2. Hillary was investigated on most ( not all ) of her suspect actions .
Like it or not she wasn't found guilty of criminal actions.
The Trump/Russia investigation is currently going on.

3.  While there are calls to reopen Hillary investigations , no official action has been taken.
The Trump/Russia issue is an official investigation with a special consul ( Robert Mueller) in charge.

Trump/ Russia is a real investigation that's in progress.
Hillary  is a "we should do it" call from some in congress.
BIG difference.

This keeps his base happy because they all blame a common enemy when details emerge on Russia.
 Trump supporters will blame the media conspiracy for his problems.
