The Obamacare Lie

I would like to congratulate the non-thinking republican voters for raising their own premiums. 1st Paul Ryan sold you a lemon and now Trump sold you swamp land.

Republicans say the average family health insurance premium has increased by $4,154 under President Obama. That’s right — and it’s a much slower rate of growth than under President George W. Bush. In fact, employer-sponsored premiums have been growing at moderate rates for the past few years.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the mandate not being a tax.

Or "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.  Period."

Or Obamacare will save the average American $2500 a year.

Do you carry car, home owners, etc. insurance and call them a tax?

I have had the same Dr. for 15 years probably.

Obama did save you money.

What I didn't do was lie to members of Congress, telling them the mandate was not a tax solely to get them to vote for it, tell the American people it was not a tax, then as soon as the law was challenged argue it in court that was in fact a tax.  And then after the supreme court's decision upholding it as a tax, lie to the American people again saying it's not a tax.

That was all compliments of our dishonest former president.

Who cares if you have the same doctor for 15 years, when a plethora of people lost their doctors?

Obama didn't save me squat.  My premiums went up.

I lost the health insurance plan I had for 10 years when Obummercare kicked in.

My premiums went from $250 to $1300/mo for the same deductible but also went from 20% to 30% coinsurance.

I can't swing that so I have no choice but to go without insurance now...

Oh.. but thats right.. I have to pay a freakin' penalty.... oh excuse me.. "tax"

F my life..

Can I just get my old healthcare plan back already? You know.. the one I was told I could keep?

That same one...

thanks

One of the worst Obama lies was that his mother had to fight her health insurance company for coverage at the end of her life.

"From his presidential quest in 2007 through the law’s passage in 2010, Obama often shared how his mother spent her last months: trying to get her health insurer to pay for her treatment for uterine and ovarian cancer, which the insurer, said the president, refused to cover because it ruled that her cancer was a preexisting condition.

But Obama’s mother had full coverage for the disease — her battle was to get disability insurance payments for her out-of-pocket expenses — according to “A Singular Woman,” a biography of Dunham by Janny Scott, who covered the campaign as a reporter for the New York Times."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obamas-mother-had-health-insurance-according-to-biography/2011/07/14/gIQAUFm7EI_story.html?utm_term=.290f628c987e

You tell one lie, heh, you lied.  You tell one lie dozens of times, you're a liar.

My premiums went up. I am an employer who pays half his employees coverage and I give them the same plan I have which is a great one. It cost me a bit more the past few years. The whole insurance industry is a scam. Even if obamacare wasn't going to affect your premiums, the insurance companies saw it as an excuse for a money grab and hiked rates. Brutal.

This is kinda my point. The insurance companies are controlling the whole thing.

Don't really think there is a need to profit from someones health problems or treatment.

I hate to break it to you all, but your insurance costs were always going to go up. I don't know as to how drastically, but they were always going to do it.

They are high not because of sick people, but because the insurance companies are using them as an excuse. That's the way it goes.

I truly sympathize with everyone who has to pay more, somehow I got lucky and didn't really have to pay more myself until recently, which wasn't Obamacare related.

I also sympathize with those who were turned down due to pre-existing conditions and those who couldn't get anything previously.

"Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me." - Matthew 25:45

Except that Obama promised 2500 a year savings for average family and you can keep your plan, etc.   All total nonsense and lies used to sell KenyaShitCare

Who is the average family? The poor people getting subsidies? They probably did save quite a bit. I only saved anything because the pool I was involved with was pretty large, that's all. Maybe EA covered the difference. I have no idea. I just know I didn't see it out of my own pocket.

I can agree with your premise. Obamacare is not necessarily good, but it's better for a lot of people than what was there previously.

Surely you can see that much. Maybe not you or me, but a lot of people.

Still, your healthcare was always going to go up... Insurance companies are in the business of making money. It's a sad state that people's lives are a profit center.

Come on Tu, you're smarter than this.

Obamacare was purposely written the way it was to implode on itself in 2017 and beyond, after Obama was out of office. The premise was carefully set up with the help of the DC swamp as the quickest way to single-payer, government mandated and controlled health insurance.

Health insurance, medical treatment, surgeries, chronic care, prescriptions etc. could end up being as much as 40% of our total economy...don't think for a minute that scumbag politicians don't want full control over that and their cut out of it.

Very possible. I am not denying that it's very likely the case.

Do you believe the insurance industry will take that lying down?

He didn't save me money if I had, previously, opted for a policy that only covered catastrophic events or, God forbid, no policy at all. Instead, he forced me to pay for a new policy that provides coverage I do not want and reduces the services I do want.

What's worse, is that it perpetuates the notion that insurance should cover things like the sniffles and routine visits to the doctor. Your car insurance doesn't cover the cost of gas or items like brake pads; it's there in case of an accident. Why should health insurance be any different?

I do agree with you. If a person wants to carry a higher deductible or whatever they mostly should be able to. Only problem is say, someone has a 25k deductible and can't cover it. That cost will get past on to people who are responsible and have a reasonable policy.

But we have that problem now, with many of the Obamacare plans (and the plans before Obamacare too). It's just that the deductible is smaller.

I wouldn't advocate a hospital turning away anyone needing emergency care, but I have no problem with people being on the hook for medical expenses. Also, this would be a great opportunity for charities and medical cost sharing coops, too!
