Golf was always an old white man sport. It only gained ratings against a younger generation when Tiger Woods became a star. With Tiger gone, it's now back to an old white man audience and most of that audience is dying off.
Baseball is actually getting better ratings as well as NBA. Baseball was on top of the world then had the stupid strike that cancelled the world series. Took a decade to get popular again with McGuire and Sosa then the steroids scandal killed it again but lately it's on the uprise.
Baseball has had a brief upsurge because of the Cubs but the long-term trend is down. The average age of a baseball fan is in the 50s. They're not replacing their fan base.
