2017 Christmas - Just received my 2017 Xmas Bonus - 40% went to taxes

Right now the Federal Presses must be going full speed ahead and overtime publishing the new 2017 tax forms and schedules and instruction booklets.....  but I have no idea when they will be available.

Although I am no tax expert, I will admit that I am a Fed Tax NERD and have always been interested regarding the tax decisions and the reasons behind those decisions and exactly why they can be so complicated when it becomes time for a  US tax payer to abide by those decisions.

Also have been interested in the GENUISES who develop these tax forms. There is a lot more 'smarts' in these forms than is evident to the average tax-payer.

At one time there was a  US citizen, public speaker who gave lectures throughout the US of A stating that no one was obliged to pay federal taxes and he described in detail .... the details.

Does anyone recall this guy and whatever happened to him?

PS... I sorta/kind recall that he was a friend of Only Me.

That is only for income, bonuses are supplemental (which I'm assuming what Ron was asking about) is actually increasing from 25 to 28 federally so the op would have paid more. That is unless his bonus is over 1 million then it goers from 40% to 37%

Was OP taxed at income rate vs supplemental?  This can be adjusted down at tax time right?

I would imagine the bill needs to be signed by Trump before they actually go into print
