Coach, do you ever train boxers? I’m doing this thing called white collar boxing where people from normal office jobs fight for 4 2-minute rounds. We use headgear and 16 ounce gloves. What do you recommend in terms of training? I am doing all the boxing specific stuff, like sparring, bag and mitt work, running, etc., but I was just curious about your thoughts on weight training. I am a heavyweight so don’t have to worry about losing weight.

A two minute time frame is at least 50% aerobic. So you’d want to develop an aerobic base. Boxers do that slow, easy road work for a reason. It’s to develop their aerobic system which requires a sustained effort for the adaptations to occur.  This is the one area where bodybuilding falls short. The typical bodybuilder who does no running wouldn’t be able to do a quarter-mile before before gassing.

When I first started doing Brazilian jujitsu back in the 1990s. One of my main instructors Craig Kukuk told me how to deal with bodybuilders. Just wait them out for about a minute. He was right I used to do it all the time. After a minute or two these jacked guys would be a panting heap on the ground.

That looks directly out of Starting Strength. You’re trying to compare a bilateral to a unilateral Squat. The mechanics will always be different
I'm not comparing anything. There is no comparison between a properly executed squat and your Bulgarian split lunge caca. "Unilateral" movements are pure pseudoscience. I hope that kid's parents are reading this because they've been sold a bill of goods.

This is true.  I also train bjj and can say that the toughest big guys I've rolled with are not usually the most jacked guys.  They are pretty solid but not overly muscled if that makes sense.  They have a good balance of everything.

. There is no doubt in my mind that this kid is one of the strongest if not THE strongest TE in the NFL. Advantage him because of his strength. Gronk is fucked up almost every season just as an example.

This guy couldn't even get playing time on the fucking Browns, meanwhile Gronk is probably the best TE of all time

I'm not a fan on him wearing those shoes when he's squating.

IMO, Doing that exercise with that much weight is causing excessive arching of the spine which causes shearing. The more common term would be a slipped disc.

The heavy weight on his back is requiring him to be too upright when he really should be leaning forward a bit. In that position with his leg back and his hips extended, his pelvis should be anteriorly tilted but it’s not.

He looks very young and has a fresh body that can probably get away with it but an older person trying that would probably get taken out of the gym on a stretcher.

He will regret it when he gets older..he is destroying his knees

Clearly, I know nothing about programming. I should just give it up. Please, give me a program that I could use so he doesn't get hurt. You can put it here in this thread.
