Very true and my apologies, Howard.
A lot of Dems were good blue collar folks for sure. Dems supported the unions. Unions are practically non-existent now except for public sector unions (teachers & gov't workers).
Dems also were heavy slavery proponents pre-Civil war and staunch anti-civil rights post Civil War. So not all knights in shining armor.
Obama actually grew up in an affluent area. He went to Punahou HS which is the elite private high school in Hawaii where all the wealthy send their kids. Not a life growing up in the 'hood as he'd like people to think. He's just another politician who is a cog in the establishment.
Clinton did grow up not-affluent but he still turned out a psychopath. Trump is one also.
My comment would be better directed at the far-out lefty lib baby boomers of the 60s movements like the Fondas and the Hollyweird folks.
The politicians all play us no matter what party they are. That is the only constant. Arguing about politics is pointless but perhaps we learn from each other and it's a safety-valve of sorts.
Obama had the House and a 60 seat Senate filibuster proof majority in his first term.
He could have bullied through Card Check and guaranteed Democrat dominance for the next 20 years.
But Barack Obama was not a traditional blue collar Democrat.
He could have stood up for those Rust Belt workers but didn't.
Drone strikes, continued war and kissing ass was the accepted regimen for his tenure.
The so called "swamp" stood up and put his weak little ass in his place and made him their little bitch. Zero spine. Zero backbone.
As a result he handed over the presidency to Donald Trump who has completely destroyed his entire legacy built upon executive actions, because he was too lazy to work through Congress.
1000 seats lost nationwide.
This will ultimately be Barack Obama's legacy.
