I think the odds were low. I've mingled with Nurse sharks both in a "pen" and in the ocean diving and they are like large catfish. Probably 300 tourists were in there before her that day with no issue. With all of them in that one area I suspect is was feeding time.

We took the family (3 kids) and our babysitter on a Caribbean vacation recently. A few of us got out to snorkel and she was hoping to see a shark. I’m like, why? She said her mom swam with nurse sharks in the Bahamas and wanted to do it. I told her any sharks we run into would likely not be as friendly. She’s only 20 and doesn’t know any better. I see a fucking 3’ shark in the water, I’m out.
