Russia is an economic joke. They are a country of 150 million white people with a GDP of 1.5 trillion. They have 1/2 the population of the United States but only 1/10 of the GDP.

It’s essentially a dead country. That’s what happens when you have too overbearing of a government. A good way to see if the government is out of control is to look at whether or not there’s anything new and innovative coming out of the country. In the US you’ve had lots of recent startups that have gone on to become large cap companies: Uber, Netflix, and hell even Amazon was just an online book seller ten years ago.  I can’t think of anything of that nature that has come out of either Europe or Russia.
