Tony Doherty about Phil on IG before the show.
To me Phil comes across as very insecure, can't hide it.
He shouldn't be insecure so it looks even worse.

Ramy has never really been badly out of shape. Sure, could be a few pounds drier but it's hard to peak such a big and drug laden guy. Regarding Dennis James, everyone always said he never got it together onstage. No, you just can't compare gym pics with stage shots. Dennis looked great at many shows, he was simply bested by genetics, structure etc.

Well, nobody said "badly" out of shape. But this is the Olympia we're talking about, not some NPC show or a grand prix in Finland. He even admitted he looked way below his own standards and issued an apology. Why would he do that if he thought he looked fine? There's a lot of ways for a guy that big to come in crisper with better lines: Get a better nutritional plan or guru, cut down on the insulin and GH. Ronnie did it in 2005 after coming in too heavy the year before, and Jay did it in the late 2000s after coming too smooth and watery in 2008 and losing to Dexter. These guys aren't stuck with one body. They can change it if they need to.

Sure you can affect it to a degree, but these gurus are fumbling in the dark, hoping it comes together as planned at the right time. I'm sure Ronnie loaded with insulin like always in 2005 with some adjustments here and there. Then hit the loop diuretic after loading, like always. Thing is you can't just drop the gh and insulin altogether for one prep unless you think coming in 40lbs lighter might help.
They all feel they need every pound of muscle possible while hitting the conditioning as well... they can't come even 20lbs lighter than usual because then everyone will say they are "flat" even if they look great, all crisp and dry. You are often judged against previous performance, not just against the rest of the lineup.

Palumbo is 100% correct in his assessment of what makes a good interview. Bullshit questions are useless and Dave wanted to delve into  Heath's mind. That is what a talented journalist does; get inside the mind of the subject and put out a kick ass piece.

That's their mental disorder. Nobody is forcing them to keep coming bigger, least of all when that's a formula that hasn't worked since Ronnie retired (and it worked for him because of his conditioning, not due to his size, as there were guys almost as big as him like Ruhl and Gunther who didn't crack the top 5 that much).

Nobody will call them flat if they come shredded to the bone and have a small waist. You've got it backwards. The fans are sick and fucking tired of the pregnant alien stomachs we're seeing on stage. GH and insulin KILLED bodybuilding, they didn't make it better.

Blaming their gurus is the easy way out. If they don't like the services they get, they can train and feed themselves, like big boys.
